Veli Lošinj

Veli Lošinj - with Mt. Kalvarija rising up in the background and the Adriatic Sea at its feet, the sight of Veli-Losinj is a stunning and breathtaking one.
Its history dates back to the 13th Century with many ruins of that era still present today. Within sight of the harbor, you’ll find St. Marija Church. Built in 1510, it still holds a several invaluable works by a number of Venetian painters, some dating back to the 16th century. Another one of the many remarkable ruins is the ‘Defensive Tower‘. Built during the 15th century to protect the harbor and city residents from pirates, it is remarkably well preserved and today, continues to serve residents and visitors alike as a museum.
