PODACA
Podaca is a village on the Makarska Riviera, 17 km northwest of Ploce.
The area of Podaca is surrounding beautiful beaches. The village is made of three parts: Kapec, Viskovica vala and Ravanje. There are about 660 inhabitant’s living in Podaca and are mainly engaged in tourism.
Podaca was first founded on the rocky slopes of Biokovo, on a defensible location. You can still see the remains of the old settlement. In the middle of the town's cemetery is the mediaeval church of St. John from the 12th century; next to it is the Baroque style parish church, built in the 18th century. On a cliff near the entrance into the village is a protruding tower with the remains of a wall, erected for the purpose of defense against the Turks in the 17th and the 18th centuries.
