Island of Vis
VIS ISLAND
The Island Vis is the most southern island of the Central Dalmatia.
There are two ways how to get to the Island. You can take a ferry (approx. 2 hours) or a speed-boat (approx 1,5 hour) from the town Split. They transfer passengers with their cars and belongings on a regular basis.
It is the Island of caves, beautiful beaches and spectacular views. The island ist with its fauna and pure nature is right place to relax. It’s one of the sunniest islands in Croatia. There are two famous fisher towns Vis and Komiza, only 14km close to each other. You can find many small original villages on the island.
Even divers will find the island very interesting for them. Deeply under the sea-level they can discover beautiful sea-life and legends of lost ships. It is a very famous location for diving.
You can fine many beautiful bays and beaches on the island, especially on the southern side of the island e.g. Rukavac, Stiniva, Milna, Srebrena, Stoncica.
Right against the town of Komiza you can find a small island, which is wellk nown for its sand beaches but mostly for the world known Blue cave called Modra spilja, which is the only kind you can find.
