Povljana
PAG - POVLJANA
The small and quiet Povljana is situated on the southern side of the island of Pag, and it has only around 800 permanent inhabitants. This is a traditionally agricultural area which has been producing food for almost the whole island for many centuries.
A big turn in the fortunes occurred in the middle of the 20th century when tourism began to develop in Pag and Povljana. The village extended a little, changed its appearance and turned from a rural centre to what is today a tourist centre of major importance for Pag.
Povljana offers to its visitors beautiful beaches, clear sea - and an especially important bay of the old Povljana, very rich with clams! The inhabitants of Povljana have a reputation as being very kind and hospitable, which is sure to make your holiday very enjoyable.
Pag as an island is famous for many things, but what is sure to be most memorable is its food: make sure you don't leave Povljana and Pag without trying its cheese and lamb.
