Island of Lopud
LOPUD ISLAND
Island Lopud is the second largest of the islands Elaphite (4.6 km2) that are part of the archipelago in southern Dalmatia.
It is situated northwest of Dubrovnik. The highest point on the island reaches a height of 216 m. The island's middle stretch of fertile fields, limestone, sunny and sheltered, where vines, fruit and olive trees grown.
On the northwest is a large bay Lopud (Lopudski zaljev), in which lies the town of Lopud, the only village on the island.
There is also a port too.
In addition to the beach in the bay Šunj, which is considered one of the finest in Southern Dalmatia (fine sand, gradual entry into the sea), you will find more sandy beaches in the bay of Lopud. Lopud Island has good boat connections with Dubrovnik.
