Come to know the beautiful Korčula - the historical and tourist centre of the island of the same name in the South Dalmatian Archipelago. Known as the birth-place of Marko Polo, this town has been justly called "a little Dubrovnik" due to its picturesque squares and medieval atmosphere. While the works of skilful Korčula stone-masons cause wonder by its perseverance, Moreška brings liveliness to the streets of Korčula, as one of the three chivalrous dances you can see only on this exceedingly beautiful island! Its coast is about 40 km long on the north and on the south part of the island. Beautiful resorts like Prižba, Gršćica, Karbuni, on the south and Prigradica on the north part will make you feel united with virgin nature of extraordinary beauty. Blato is historical and cultural centre of the west part of the island of Korčula. It counts about 4000 inhabitants. Within the town of Blato there is a Church of All Saints with treasure and belfry aside with a loggia where most summer cultural performances take place. Besides there are about 27 little churches some of them are early Romanics. Daughters of Mercy as a rank were established in Blato. It has houses all over the world helping people and children. The crypt of Marija Petkovic Sister of the Daughters of Mercy who established the rank is the place of pilgrimage because some proved supernatural healing and salvation happened in her presence. Blato's rich history, the struggle of its inhabitants to save the island from the pirates and invaders, is shown in very attractive knight play "kumpanjija". A Sward dance that shows proud people defending their island takes place in the square in front of the Church every week during summer. Long linden alley that leads through the whole length of Blato is something that is rarely seen on the islands and it makes a fairy impression with the greenery and a pleasant fragrance. Blato is something to be seen, something to be remembered, generosity and friendship to be experienced. Prižba Prižba - riviera of extraordinary beauty, a place where fairy nature settled and remained forever. Isles spread like pearls all over the blue sea carpet with centennial pine wood almost rising from sea bordered by white stone witnessing myth of Aphrodite who according to legend was born from meerschaum. Prižba is hogging you by its hospitality, inviting you to merge with its beauty.
Gršćica Leaving Blato towards the south part of the island, passing about 5 km your eyes will be captured by Gršćica, beautiful, calm and safe port. Like a nest Gršćica offers you restful holiday in numerous apartments in private accommodation or a camp. You can enjoy fresh domestic food in a restaurant or you can go fishing with experienced fishers. If you prefer an active holiday, there is a diving school that will take you to explore mystical sea depths. Just 500 m from Gršćica turning the curve, you have to be prepared to see the most beautiful view you can imagine. Prižba is opening itself to you and you'll feel the magic of the moment, you'll become a part of it, you'll become united with immemorial nature.
All along your way you can choose among first category private accommodation with far known hospitality, a hotel, a bungalow settlement or a camp. Also there are several restaurants where you will be treated like an old friend, bur professionally and offered with excellent food.
A large pebble beach could be a place for you to let you imagination flow. Nearby situated on little peninsula Ratak is a summer monastery of the Daughters of Mercy with regular mess service. It is a kind of place that when you see it you immediately think about St. Frances talking to birds. For your daily needs there are mini markets, post office, rent a boat, rent a bike, rent a scooter, etc..
In the bungalow settlement at Prišćapac peninsula there is a diving centre where you can dive with experienced guides or you can rent the equipment.
The sea bottom in all area is rich with old boat ruins because in time of ancient Greece this was the sea way to Greek colonies. Old Greeks used to call the island Korkyra Melaina "the dark island" because it is all covered with woods Karbuni Karbuni is a town on the southern coast of the island of Korčula, not far from Blato. Karbuni got its name from the traditional occupation of its locals - the preparation of wood carbon (karbon) and soot. It is located in a bay that is one of the best anchoring spots for small boats, while the archipelago by Karbuni is scattered with an abundance of small islands strewn with picturesque beaches.
