Croatia fifth in Europe by improving transport infrastrukutre

Britain's Daily Mail has recently published an expert analysis by TomTom according to which Croatia is in the fifth place out of 30 countries by improvements of its transport infrastructure. European benchmarks have shown that Croatia has in the past year made a total of 129 301 improvents on its roads, while just after it, in sixth and seventh place are Turkey with 118 352 and the United Kingdom with 115 994 enhancements in the form of new roads, roundabouts and sidewalks. At the top is France, leading with 263 409 of them, followed by Germany (169 111), Spain (145 641) and Italy (144 571).
The data was obtained after the TomTom agency recorded more than 1.5 million modifications to the roads across Europe in the last 12 months.

Istria among the most desirable destinations in 2012

The prestigious magazine National Geographic Traveler has put Istria among the 20 most desirable destinations for 2012, in its winter edition.
Describing all the beauties of Croatia`s largest peninsula, Traveler magazine pointed out that Istria is a romantic place and should be experiencd as Tuscany with a Habsburg past.
The magazine states that Istria is becoming more and more famous for its truffles, Malmsey wines, olive oils produced in small town ruins on green hill tops. They also point out that Istria has more than 2000 miles of upkept cycling trails and Adriatic bays surrounded by the shade of pine trees, tempting one to go for a swim.
The text is illustrated with a photograph of Rovinj, which is compared to a Venetian island. They also mention the romantic bar Valentino, located on the rocks along the sea.
Along Istria, the magazine mentiones Belfast, Snaefellsnes on Iceland, Koh Lip on Thailand, Dresden, National park Tayrona in Columbia, Virunga volcanos in Africa, Costa Brava in Spain, Sonoma in California, Muskok in Ontario, Omaka, London, Gvatemala, New Zeland, Panama, Peru, Pittsburgh and Mongolia.
Also on the «Best of the World 2012» list are towns, countries and natural sites which, according to the popular magazine, deserve the title of the most desirable places on the planet which will inspire travellers with their various riches in 2012.
