About destination Jelsa[hide][show]
JELSA
This settlement developed on the northen part of the island in the 14th century as a harbour of the ancient village of Pitve . Thick pine forests, sandy beaches, springs, tall poplar trees, all of these rearley seen on Dalmatian islands pleasantly surprise numerous visitors who chose Jelsa as a holiday destination.
Although the settlement prospered in the 19th century due to the ship building industry, it reveals its history and valuable monuments from the time of Greek colonisation and remnants of summer houses and fragments of Roman inscriptions from the Roman period as well.
Jelsa has taken advantage of its location in a sheltered harbour in contact with fertile fields, developing into a naval, commercial and agricultural centre that harmoniously adapted to the flourishing tourist trade.
Island Hvar We would like to make you familiar with the sunniest island in the Adriatic-Hvar, unique on natural beauty and rich history and culture. The mild Mediterranean climate, exuberant vegetation, picturesque sceneries, sleepy villages, old cities with small local churches, narrow streets and lively markets, as well as long tourist tradition are the best guarantees for an atractive and pleasant stay on the island.
Many beaches and caves on the island vary from fine sand to fine pabbles. Those who prefer rock bathing will find countles places to their liking along the island.
Hvar offers a great deal of recreational facilities: long seaside walks, water sports-sailing, diving, fishing, tennis... Various cultural and entertaining events are organized during the summer months: from popular folklore performances to concerts and exhibitions.
