Srima
SRIMA
As an extension of Vodice, southeast towards Jadrija, there is a picturesque tourist resort Srima.
It dates from the medieval times but during the Turkish invasions, the inhabitants fled to island Prvic where they founded their settlement Srima called Sepurine. When the Turks retreated by the end of the 17th ct., they gradually return to the mainland, to the fertile fields of Srima.
On the nearby location of Srimska lokva some valuable archeological rests were found of the early Christian era like the basilica from the 6th ct. The locality is open for the visitors and the walls of the basilica are raised half a meter from the ground to be more visible.
In the recent times intensive construction of holiday homes made the boundaries between Vodice and Srima invisible. Alongside the coast there are few rows of quality family houses, many rooms and apartments which are ready to be let to local or foreign tourists. Those who prefer camping can chose among several camp sites. Srima is a pleasant and peaceful place far from summer hustle
