About destination Baška Voda[hide][show]
BAŠKA VODA
As one of the most stunning stretches of coastline along the Adriatic Sea, the Makarska Riviera is characterized by long white pebble beaches, and lush pine and olive woods that lie between the azure blue sea and the dramatic Mount Biokovo mountain range.
Beauties of the landscape under Biokovo and tameness of its littoral attract many foreign visitors, thus facilitating the development of many resorts, one of which is undoubtedly Baška Voda. Long hours of uninterrupted sunshine, warm crystal clear water and a gently sloping shoreline make it a perfect destination for family holidays.
Baška Voda is a typical Dalmatian coastal village, nestled around a small harbour from where fishing boats offer trips to the nearby islands. The village itself is a small gathering of family houses, apartments and hotels plus the added facilities of bars, restaurants and small souvenir shops.
Behind Baška Voda, Biokovo is the highest coastal mountain on the Adriatic (St. George, 1762 m), it descends toward the sea in very steep and bare limestone rocks, under which is a narrow and green littoral belt. From its cliffs the central Dalmatian islands and entire Dalmatian coast, as well as the hinterland with many villages, are in plan - and fantastic - view.
If coming from split airport or zagreb, there are 2 possibilities to reach Baška Voda; first is to take the motorway a1, follow the signs towards Dubrovnik and Makarska, exit when you reach exit "Šestanovac" and follow the signs to Makarska Riviera: Brela, Baška Voda. Second possibility is to take the adriatic highway D8 and follow the signs toward Omiš, Makarska, Dubrovnik. When you reach Baška voda which is aproximately 20km from exit Šestanovac (if going on a1), and 50km from Split (if going on d8) descend to town center and when you reach sign with all the hotels names. >
